October 1 begins the 31 Days of… series that’s hosted by The Nester. Each year she challenges bloggers to choose a topic and write about it once a day for the 31 days of October. When I first saw the idea, I thought there was NO WAY I could write about a topic for 31 straight days.
But I’m taking a different spin on this one. Instead of writing about something I know a lot about, why not write about something I want to learn about? Something that I want to do better. Something I believe God is calling me to pay attention to.
I’ve noticed a trend in my blog reading. The posts that have been catching my eye on other sites are usually about being more intentional with your kids, husband, or home. I’ve been feeling a tug to be more intentional with Emma, our sweet seven-year-old. Now I’m giving myself 31 days to focus on how I might do that.
Disclaimer: I am NOT an expert on intentional parenting. I’m not an expert in ANY type of parenting. I’m just willing to share what we do, what we want to do, and what we think God is calling us to do. My hope is that you’ll jump in and comment about how you do some of the things we’ll talk about this month.
So what in the world is intentional parenting? I thought I’d start by asking Mr. Webster what the word intentional means. Here’s what he told me:
intentional – adjective – done with intention or on purpose
Yes Yes! That’s it! On purpose.
I don’t want life to go by in a blur, finding us sending Emma off to college wondering where all the years went. I want to make sure that we’re parenting on purpose, paying attention, making the most of each moment.
And I’m taking 31 days to think through how we can do just that. Will you join me?

We are on the same wave length 🙂
I am also doing a series on intentional living (including parenting) – something I strive to improve on and am in now way an expert in!
I look forward to being inspired by your posts and following along this month!
God bless!

Being intentional in parenting is wonderful – can’t wait to read what you share here. I love that you claim you are not an expert – are any of us! LOL

Ha! I’m so NOT an expert. I just figured that taking 31 days to think through different areas of parenting might help me as well as someone else. Thanks for coming along for the ride!
